|Contract:||River Diversion & Culvert Installation Contract Austin Park, Birmingham, UK|
|Client:||St Modwen Developments|
This project involved the construction of the two acre Austin Park which enabled the opening up of the River Rea for the first time in 100 years. The River Rea previously flowed underneath the site, but was brought to the surface to enhance the features of the park which was part of the Longbridge Regeneration Scheme.
Our contract consisted of the installation of 110 linear metres of precast concrete box culverts sized 3.6m x 2.75m x 2.2m and weighing 14 ton per section, through which a section of the river was diverted. Excavation for the culverts was 8 meters deep with Roadform Ltd responsible for all temporary works and environmental controls on the live site. Reinstatement works consisted of shaping and landscaping to complete the construction of the public park.
