The Clonakilty Flood Relief Scheme is designed to protect the town of Clonakilty from fluvial flooding from the Ballyhalwick River, the River Fealge, the Cappeen Stream and the Garage Stream along with tidal flooding from Clonakilty Bay.
As part of the project Roadform Ltd have completed the civil works associated with the upgrade of pump stations at two locations in Clonakilty. Works included installation of ductile iron pipework up to 1100Ø, valves and pumps to pump stations in Sugan Field and the former GAA pitch on Inchidoney Road.
This project required specialist works to be carried out internally within pump stations at a depth of 6 metres below ground which required water management to control water ingress from the bay.
The project was located within an Environmentally Sensitive area with water management discharging to the bay and working within knotweed contaminated areas both of which required all works to be carried out to very strict environmental control measures.
